He lives in Mukwekwe village of Chief Saunyama. He was born in a family of six. The name D.Marshingz came after the work of his mother who actually sells food (Samusa).
Marshingz did his primary education at Crossdale Primary School where he was known for Folk stories which he used to draw attention to other students.
In 2012 he attended his secondary school at Sahumani Secondary School (Honde Valley). Due to family issues he left school and went back to Nyanga where he was staying with his Grandma (Constance Saunyama) even at the moment.
In 2013 he started recording his traditional tracks at a local studio, (Flatbase studio) and these managed to make an impact within the locals. From 2014 -15 he recorded some dancehall tracks such as mambure erudo, usandisiye, star bakery. He then moved to Nyamaropa to stay with his uncle (Hermon Sanyamaropa) in 2016 were he continued his secondary education. In this period a lot of people believed that it is when he started his music journey.
D.Marshingz enrolled to Bumhira High in 2016, at that time dancehall music was on demand people were so passionate and fond of it. Marshingz began to sing dancehall music during break time and launch time and all students would gather to listen and dance to the verses and chorus.
One other day by the Tinotenda Matimba a member of marimba and mbira music club convinced D,Marshingz to join the club as it was the only music club at school. Marshingz did not like to join the club since he knew that Matimba was too fast on playing Mbira instruments and Marshingz felt not able to cope with the pressure. After a series of days Marshingz met with Amos Chatsanga who was playing mbira and became fond of the instrument since the guy was a genius in his art and decided to stand beside him and later started putting some vocals.
Marshingz became a fun and an artist simultaneously. He then went on to call mbira girls club to join him and puts some backing vocals whilst he was playing. That is when the journey of playing mbira started with the girls and the song was called “Pandaiti teerera”. Amos and the girls went to Mr Nyagwande the music club teacher to inform him that there was a guy who could help them to play and sing in the music club at school. At the time Marshingz was called by music teacher but he refused to join the club until the Headmaster (Mr Mushunje) intervened, Marshingz was given an opportunity to perform at assembly and all the teachers and students loved the way he sang and also the lyrical content.
Marshingz was given a mbira instrument to live with so that he would keep on practising it. He started composing songs such as, Nhaka yangu, Tora huta hwako, Dzidza nesimba and Ndiani angazvidawo. Marshingz was later assigned to teach other students how to sing and rehearse for competitions and the teacher would come to inspect few days before competitions with other schools.
From 2016 to 2019 Bumhira High School outsmarted all schools that were competing in Solon Foundation mbira and marimba awards. The competition won was the first for it`s kind for the school since 2016.
